About the A–Z Index
I’m an advanced EMMETT practitioner but I found it impossible to remember all the different moves. I created this index to quickly find the correct therapeutic EMMETT approach and available EMMETT responses to a client’s problem.
About Emmett Technique
The internationally recognised EMMETT technique developed by Ross Emmett and taught in over thirty countries worldwide can be applied to both people and animals. It works well as a standalone approach but can easily be combined with other complementary therapies such as massage and Bowen therapy.
There is no current scientific explanation for the mechanism by which it achieves the relaxation response. However, Ross Emmett believes a good analogy is that of a digital touch-screen. The EMMETT points are small sensory receptors that allow access to the brain via the therapist’s touch. The brain then evaluates this stimulus and initiates the relaxation response of the soft tissue. The pressure required is not heavy or painful. “No pain no gain” has no place in the EMMETT therapist’s approach.
